16 Dec, 8pm: Online talk. LESSONS FROM THE LAND - HOW GHOSTS CAN HELP US UNDERSTAND
Online talk presented by author Amy Boucher, followed by a Q&A with the audience.
Ghost stories are fascinating things. They are so much more than they are given credit for. They serve as conduits for the attitudes and fears of a particular time or place, the dominant mindsets in a culture and in this case, a gateway into a history that has been left untold. Often, those who subvert society's expectations, the lost souls become ghosts. it’s a way in which their legacy can continue, even if the memory of their life fades into the either. Through these stories were given a window into our history, and a chance to understand.
Amy Boucher is a writer and folklorist, who focuses on her native Shropshire. Her emphasis is primarily on the interplay between folklore, history and the paranormal, and perceptions of the past through the lens of folk beliefs.
A zoom link will be sent prior to the talk to the email address provided when booking. Video replay will be available after the event for all ticket holders to watch back.
