About the Podcast
The Folklore Podcast began in the summer of 2016, after it became apparent that there were very few podcasts which dealt with folklore in an accessible and yet informative way. Most were of the storytelling, 'campfire' variety. The ethos of this podcast is simple. To bring world-class experts in the fields of folklore and its associated areas of interest to a wide audience, completely free of charge. Of course, running a show like this does incur expenses and we rely on our supporters and donors to keep going, so if you can help, please do.
The podcast has grown significantly since it started, with over 1.5 million downloads of episodes and the addition of other projects. Episodes are now interspersed with our book strand, The Folklore Podcast Book Club, which looks at books with a folklore theme and chats to authors, and shows looking at folklore films and live performance. The Reviews section of the website has book and film reviews, many of which have associated episodes.
